After my program of study in Ancient History, Art History and Psychology, as well as positions at the universities in Dresden, Berlin and Bamberg, I have been working in Ancient History at the Historical Seminar of the JGU Mainz since 2011 (now as Akademischer Direktor). As my subjects already suggest, I am a somewhat “untypical” ancient historian whose passion for research and teaching primarily belongs to ancient history, but not exclusively. Working across epochs and subjects – preferably in cooperation with colleagues and students – inspires me as much as the topics of history and media or the communication of history in public spaces. My main research areas therefore range from the political, cultural and social history of the Roman Republic and late antiquity to the reception of antiquity across epochs and media and the examination of current forms of communicating history (project “Clio 2punkt0”). <\/p>\n\n
